Toilets for Nigerian Refugee Camp

25.00

There are three million refugees in Nigeria - they have fled the terrorism of Boko Haram, an Islamic extremist group linked to ISIS.

Many of the refugees are living in squalor in Al-Amin Dagash refugee camp, outside of the northern Nigerian city of Maiduguri.

Brighter Brains Institute is committed to helping a community in the camp of 90 households. We have provided them with food, water, mosquito nets (to prevent malaria), tarpaulins to keep them dry, and startup funds to build and operate a Noodle Factory. Our representative, Sadiq Modu Kura, promote secular humanism to this community, via the Ten Humanist Principles.

The refugees’s most urgent need now is toilets. The refugee camp has not provided toilets, and “open defecation” has caused a cholera outbreak.

Improving the hygiene of our adopted community in the refugee camp with help prevent this deadly disease.

The lack of hygiene also causes numerous other illnesses, such as dysentery, parasite infections, typhoid, hepatitis, trachoma, and skin infections
