Project Description:

Eastern parts of Congo have been affected by Ebola a deadly disease that has claimed over 70,000 lives of people since it attacked this area. Women have been affected according to the data analysis because affected families are now catered by widows who have been left out by their husbands due to the disease. Secondly this area has spent over 50 years with civil wars which are vibrant, among the many types of animals kept by women; Local goat keeping has been initiated as one of the project that can lift the living standards of rural people in eastern Dr Congo.

Goat keeping is preferred because of the following reasons,

·       Local goats are resistant to tropical harsh climatic condition

·       Local goats are resistant to tropical climatic diseases

·       They are cheap to keep in terms of feeding, medication.

·       Availability of green pasture/vegetation in the area.

·        It will improve on the standards of living through increasing their life span.

Project Projected Income (explain how much money it will make per month, show timeline)

Goat produce good quality milk compared to other animals milk. Goat milk is on demand therefore this project has high chances to succeed. One cup of goat milk costs $ 0.34 and one goat produces 5 cups a day whereby in a week, a beneficiary will earn $ 2.36. This amount of money will help the affected congelese women to meet their needs by the time it starts producing.

Who Benefits from the Project?

The project beneficiaries will be Widows affected by Ebola and wars where 10% of the beneficiaries will be humanists. We will start with ten direct beneficiaries.
